ZHPO Holds Dinner; inducts new editorial board

The Nnamdi Azikwe Hall Press Organization (ZHPO), On Friday, 30th of June, 2023,inducted a new editorial board at its annual ending of the session Press dinner and hand over night, which took place at the Hall’s Junior Common Room (JCR).
The event which was graced, virtually by one of the ZHPO’s prominent alumnus and former Editor-in-Chief, Kekereekun Victor, also had in attendance physically notable hall executives such as: Hall chairman, Moriselade Soladoye-Adewole, Vice Hall chair, Akinwusi Ifeoluwa, IPM and Hall Chairman-elect, Adeniji Uthman, Legislative Council Speaker,Igbaoreto Samuel, Attorney General Otumala alongside members of the press.
The event began with an address by the outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Francis Orok, who spoke on the significance and uniqueness of ZHPO tradition. There was a period of discussion and speeches on significant national issues as well as eulogy and criticism of the outgoing editorial board and Zik Press as a whole There was also presentation of certificates to exceptional pressmen among some of which was Kareem Joshua as Inductee of the year, with a grand price accompanying it, and Francis Orok as Pressman of the year. Other pressmen and members of the outgoing editorial board were awarded for their services in different capacities. After which, the new editrial board was unveiled.
The newly inducted Editorial board members include: Adegbite Adewale as the Editor-in-chief; Akinjide Adebowale as the Deputy Editor-in-chief; Joshua Kareem as the Managing Editor; Faith Adediran as the Features Editor; Oluwagbenga Kolawole as the News Editor; Aremu Olakunle Samson as the Sports Editor and Korede Teriba as the Chief Correspondence Officer.
Josh Seizes The Title: Adeoye Joshua Wins Zik Hall Mr. Macho competition
Adeoye Joshua, widely known as Josh, has emerged as the victor of the highly anticipated Zik Hall Mr. Macho competition. Josh showcased his exceptional strength and fitness prowess, securing first place in four out of the five challenging gym programs. While the competition was fierce, Josh’s remarkable performance set him apart from his competitors.
In an exclusive interview following his victory, Josh revealed his initial nervousness before the competition. However, as soon as the first program began, his confidence surged, despite the intense challenges he faced. When asked if he had anticipated his triumph, Josh confidently replied, “Yes, because as far as I know, I haven’t seen anybody that has been able to surpass my current fitness level in the Zik Hall gym. So, I was quite sure of winning before the competition even started.”
Josh’s exceptional dedication to his fitness regimen undoubtedly paid off, as he dominated the majority of the competition’s events. His success in four out of five programs solidified his position as the undisputed champion of the Zik Hall Mr. Macho competition.
Among the other participants, Dibia secured the fourth position, displaying commendable strength and determination. While he may not have reached the pinnacle of the competition, his performance was still commendable in such a competitive environment.
However, it was UGO who managed to capture the attention of onlookers and fellow contestants alike. UGO’s noteworthy achievement was his ability to carry heavyweight without any prior gym experience. His natural strength and potential left many spectators astounded, showcasing the power of raw talent.
In recognition of his outstanding victory, Josh was rewarded with a cash prize of ₦50,000 sponsored by Swift Money. The generous sponsorship provided by Swift Money highlights the growing importance of promoting fitness and healthy lifestyles within the community.
The Zik Hall Mr. Macho competition not only showcased the physical prowess and determination of its participants but also served as a reminder of the significance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. Zikism, Beacon of Unity, As Host Emerges Victorious in UI’SU Election

Nnamide Azikwe Hall, Zik Hall, has long been recognized as a symbol of unity; oneness, togetherness and brotherhood, within the University of Ibadan. Zikites have cultivated a culture of mutual support and togetherness that transcends individual differences and forges strong bonds. It is this unique spirit that has consistently propelled candidates supported by Zikites to victory in student union, faculty and departmental elections.
In the highly contested election for the University of Ibadan Student Union, Samuel Samson Tobiloba well known as Host, a 500 level student of Dentistry emerged victorious with 3549 votes, in spite of the intensity of the election. Going head-to-head against three formidable opponents, including Tiolu from Indy Hall, Host’s path to success was paved with challenges. However, with overwhelming support from the tight-knit Zik Hall, known for its oneness and togetherness, Host managed to secure a significant victory. This triumph does not only highlight the power of solidarity but also emphasizes the influence that unified Zikites can have in shaping the outcomes of Student Union elections.
The University of Ibadan SU election was no ordinary contest. With multiple candidates vying for the prestigious position, the race was intense and closely watched by the entire student body. Tiolu, hailing from Indy Hall, presented a strong challenge, garnering support from kantagites and beyond. However, it was Host’s resilience, strategic campaign, and the unwavering backing of Zik Hall that proved to be the turning point.
Zik Hall’s support has become a coveted endorsement in student elections due to its history of influencing outcomes. Candidates backed by Zikites have time and again emerged victorious, underlining the strength and impact of a unified front. This unity of purpose, combined with an unwavering commitment to their candidate, creates a formidable force that is difficult to rival. While Interviewing Zikites randomly, a Zikite disclosed “Zik Hall endorsed four candidates in the last session’s UI’SU election and all of them won. Zikites also put forward three candidates this session at SU level and all emerged victorious, we are sustaining the legacy”.
