UI opens portal for correction of GES course registration

By News Desk

The University of Ibadan has announced that it will open its students’ portal on Friday to allow the correction of wrongly registered General Studies (GES) courses.

The internal memorandum

The decision, communicated through the Centre for General Studies (CGS), follows the discovery of errors during the most recent examination exercise  in an internal memorandum dated 7 January 2026.

The director of the centre, Prof A. F. Adeniyi, said the move was necessary to protect the accuracy of students’ academic records.

According to the memo, the errors were largely traced to misleading information inadvertently provided by some academic departments, leading students to register incorrect GES courses.

The portal will be open on Friday, 9 January, from 8am to 4pm. Students have been warned to correct only approved GES course codes, as changes to other registered courses will be regarded as misconduct and may attract disciplinary action.

The directive has been circulated to deans, sub-deans and relevant university offices for immediate compliance.
