The Zik Hall Legislative Council in an emergency sitting held on Monday, 4th October 2021, resolved to relieve the Social Minister, Mr Marizu Miracle, popularly known as “Saka the Barber” of all his duties on the allegations of gross misconduct pending the result of an Investigative Panel set up by the Legislative Council.
In a broadcast released after the sitting by the House’s Clerk, Hon. Fabiyi Oluwadamilare, it reveals thus: “After thorough deliberation, the following are the resolution reached by the Council:-
1) Following allegations of gross misconduct levelled against MR Marizu Miracle, he has been relieved of all his official duties as the Minister for Socials, pending the report of an investigative panel set up by the Legislative Council. He is to submit all Hall properties in his care to the Speaker within the next 24 hours.
2) In accordance with section 55(1)(e) of the NNAMDI AZIKIWE HALL Constitution, an investigative panel has been set up to probe the allegations levelled against the Minister for Socials and report back to the house on Monday for final hearing.”
The motion for adjournment of the sitting till the 11th October, 2021 was moved by Hon. Salawu Daniel and seconded by Hon. Hassan Ayomide, the sitting ended at exactly 9:00PM.
However, in an interview with the Speaker of the house, to throw more light into the situation of things on ground, he had this to say “First, the Social minister was not “suspended”, since certain constitutional steps need to be taken before an officer could be suspended. However, he was relieved of all official duties pending investigation by a panel set up for that purpose according to section 55(1)(e). The decision to relieve him of all official duties was reached after several allegations of gross misconducts levelled against the Social Minister and which he admitted guilt”.
He further stated that “he admitted that the allegations are true but then just like I said earlier, there is an investigative panel working on determining his guilt or otherwise“.
Efforts to reach the Social Minister to get his own side of the story proved abortive as he failed to reply to messages and other measures trying to reach him as at the time of publication.
