The Sigma Club, UI on Monday, 31st March, 2025 held a press conference ahead of the finale of its Roseline Etuokwu Sigma National Secondary school quiz competition.
During the conference which was held virtually, Loyalist Olaoluwa Olagoke, the National Coordinator of the Quiz Competition provided some background details on the event. According to him, registration was open to secondary schools all over the country with over six hundred schools participating.
He stated that the first round of the competition which was the states category was held on the 18th of January, 2025. The second round which was held on the 1st of March, 2025 had winners from each state face other contestants in their geopolitical zone. The grand finale which is scheduled to hold on the 12th of April will have winners of each geopolitical zone face off to decide the ultimate winner.
According to him, the event had been in existence for some years and that the prize for this year's edition has been bumped up from one million naira last year to five million naira this year. The second and third positions will walk away with two million and one million naira respectively. He further stated that a cash prize of five hundred thousand naira would be given to the fourth, fifth and sixth positions.
