The University of Ibadan Students Union has in a release on Tuesday, 3rd of June, 2025 announced the extension of the school fee payment deadline.
According to the release dated 3rd of June, 2025 and signed by the president, Covenant Odedele as well as the general secretary of the union, Olowu Victor, the school fee and course registration deadline has been extended by two weeks. The new deadline is now Friday, June 20, 2025, instead of the earlier date of June 6.
The release further stated that the Unions leadership had categorically rejected the original eight week window of payment stating that it was "insufficient in the light of the economic realities of the country."
The Union's leadership also said that they have been working with the Bursary Unit to speed up the refund of money from the previous session. They waited to announce the extension until they were sure that many students had started receiving their refunds.
In addition, the Union released that there has been no increase in school fees this session compared to last session and that any fee issues seen on students’ portals are being corrected.
For students who applied for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), the Union said that the school and NELFUND are ready to start sending out the loan payments, while enjoininh sudents to start checking their loan wallets from June 4.
Furthermore, the Union revealed that it succeeded in getting a wrongly added studio fee for 300L, 400L, and 500L students in the Faculty of Technology and students in Science & Technology Education under the Faculty of Education reversed.
The Union promised to keep standing by students and to ensure no one is left behind due to financial constraints and administrative lapses.
