The seventh assembly of the Zik Hall legislative council on Monday, 27th of October 2025 held its sixth sitting. The main issues that were discussed at the sitting include adoption of the minutes of the last sitting, approval of the reviewed standing order, and council membership adjustment.
The council membership adjustment saw Honourable Okuilegbe Famous removed from his position following his eviction by the hall management as a result of misconduct. He was replaced Honourable Muhibudeen Olawale after a simple majority vote in which there were a total of 5 votes for him, 1 against him, and 1 which was void.
Prior to the vote, he promised to serve with integrity and make sure that every member of his floor is carried along on the activities of the hall. After the vote was cast and he was declared a member of the house, he took his oath of office and was officially made a member of the Zik Hall legislative council.
Moving on to the next agenda, the hall secretary, Mr Daniel Toluwani, was asked to give his administrative report of all the activities he has performed so far in relation to his office, which he did.
The vice hall chairman Mr Adebayo was also called on to give his administrative report, and was penalized for his failure to make hard copies of his report as expected. Honorable Agunbiade of the A1 constituency suggested that he should be punished by being ordered to flush toilets on his floor and this suggestion was seconded by Honorable Timothy of the A4 constituency. Another motion was however raised by Honorable Amusan of the B2 constituency who suggested that the hall chairman rather pay a fine of #1,000 and write an open letter of apology to all zikites for his inconsistency within 48 hours. Honorable Amusan's suggestions was adopted through a vote with 7 votes in favor of of his suggestions against that of Honorable Agunbiade who had 3 votes.
Similarly, the Information and Propaganda Minister, Mr Ifuma Oluwatobi was fined #1,200 for failing to make hard copies of his report available. He was also ordered to write an open letter to all Zikites apologizing for his lateness and inconsistency.
Furthermore, the vice hall chairman and the IPM were confronted by honourable members for some negligence and inconsistencies in their areas of responsibility. The vice hall chairman especially promised that there will be changes.
The speaker of the house thereafter set up a three-man monitoring committee consisting of Honourable Agunbiade, Honourable Amusan and Honourable Gbenro to see to it that the vice hall chairman does what he promised.
The health minister was supposed to be present to make his report but couldn't due to the fact that he wants to write his MB exam; therefore, he needs to take permission from the house.
