On Tuesday 28th of March, 2023 the Hall chairman, Moriselade Faruq, announced on Zik hall online platforms the acquisition of a new projector and sound system sponsored by an alumnus of the hall.
The Hall Chairman, Moriselade Farouq (Morriz) made it known in an interview with ZHPO that the new projector and sound system was secured from a sponsor whom the Executive Council had approached in relation to projects within the hall.
“The whole things was sponsored by one of the Hall’s alumnus in person of Mr. Idowu Bankole, who is unarguably a lover of the hall’s progress. It was during one of our meetings with him that he asked about the needs of the JCR and we told him about the need for a projector and sound system which graciously provided.” Morriz said.
According to a letter by the sponsor in response to the request for the projector and sound system, acceding to the hall’s request was evidently borne out of true love of brotherhood in which the togetherness of the hall has embedded in him. An excerpt from the letter reads;
“I must say that as a full-blooded Zikite who received baptism of water and fire, the welfare of Zikism which exemplifies Oneness, Togetherness, and Brotherhood, have always remained paramount in my heart, as well in those of passionate Zikites who came before and after us”. The letter was concluded with a statement of continued support for the hall. “The donor (Idowu Bankole) wants me to assure all ZIkites that this would not be the lastof such support for Zik hall and encourage you all to keep the fire burning!”
It is important to note that Zik hall’s JCR has suffered from the lack of a projector since the 2018/2019 session when the last projector ‘mysteriously’ disappeared. This had reduced viewing options at the JCR as Zikites can only watch from the only plasma TV outside the JCR.
Where the TV malfunctions, Zikites are left with the option of venturing out of the hall to view matches. For instance, Indy hall which boasts of a plasma TV and a projector scree in their JCR has frequently played host to Zikites. However, with the new projector and sound system, viewing experience in Zik hall is taking a new look.
Speaking with the Social Minister, Azeez Malik, who is constitutionally in charge of the maintenance of the JCR, he guaranteed the security of the new equipment by reassuring that he is in charge of it.
“Previous Social Ministers had assigned the upkeep of the JCR to a JCR commissioner but I am the one in charge of it. As much as the key to the JCR is with me, it’s not going to be a hard job for me to do, it is my responsibility. I’ll make sure it is well kept and maintained.” He assured
In replying to a question posed by a ZHPO correspondent on accessibility to the new equipment, Malik stated; “the projector will remain within the hall, it will not be taken out. And anyone renting it will bear the cost of any damage to it”
The Social Minister also implored Zikites to exercise proper care in the use and maintenance of the new projector to ensure it is enjoyed for the longest time possible.
