The Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan, has on Friday , 30th of May , 2025, organised a training session for campus journalists.
The training session which was held at Indy Hall Junior Common Room focused on news, feature, and investigative writing techniques.
Faith Adediran, UCJ General Secretary, while taking the session on news writing, emphasised the importance of timeliness and objectivity.
"News writing is the bedrock of journalism," Adediran noted.
Eriomala John, the facilitator on investigative reporting, highlighted the significance of multiple sources in investigative writing, stressing that investigative reports should address public interests.
Ibrahim Fiyinfoluwa, Editor-in-Chief of Sultan Bello Press Organisation, discussed feature writing, advising journalists to capture human-interest stories and concerned voices. He emphasised that journalism is a responsibility to society and that good feature writers must first be good news writers.
This session of the training had in attendance local press organisations in Sultan Bello, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Queen Idia, and Great Independence Hall and is part of a series of training sessions organised by UCJ to train members of various local press organisations within the Union of Campus Journalists.
