The seventh assembly of the Zik Hall legislative council has on Tuesday, 6th of May, 2025 ratified the appointment of Daniel Adeniyi, a 400 level law student as the new attorney general of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall.
Daniel's appointment was confirmed at the first emergency sitting of the house with nine members voting for while only one voted against his appointment.
As part of his plans for the office, Daniel stated that he intends to: create weekly educational releases, encourage repotting and testifying, provide legal aid and counseling and also promote a law abiding culture. He also promised to create a "Know your rights and duties campaign."
The council grilled him about the feasibility of his plans and how he intends to act in specific contexts, particularly in which he would be acting.
"As a member of the executive council, every matter against the executive council must be defended by the AG. There are ethics. As attorney general, my fiduciary duty is to the executive council. Where there are issues for the executive council, the AG must advise on the way forward," he said while answering one of the questions.
