ZHLC Ratifies three of the four nominees for Judicial Council, and co-opted member into the Legislative Council

In the second sitting of the Zik Hall Legislative Council, which was held on Wednesday, 28th May, 2025, at Zik Hall JCR. Three out of the four nominees for the judicial council were ratified. 

The four nominees are Mr Adebisi Adewunmi (former SRC member and formal hall secretary), Mr Esosuakpo Great (two-time member of the Ethics and Litigation Committee), Mr Atanda Clinton, and Mr David.

The nominees were questioned and graded by the legislative council. With Mr Adebisi Adewunmi scoring 787 points from 7 valid sheets, Mr Great 638 points from 8 valid sheets, Mr Clinton 387 points from 7 valid sheets, and Mr David 698 points from 8 valid sheets. 

The speaker, Rt Hon Ayomide Oladoja, made it known that only the top 3 on average would get ratified, which means only Mr Adebisi, Mr Esosuakpo Great, and Mr David were ratified to be part of the judicial council. The house also demanded that Mr Adebisi Adewunmi write a letter of apology to the 7th assembly for being absent when called to the podium for ratification.

In the same sitting, the house also ratified Hon. Bamiloye Isaac as a co-opted member into the Legislative Council as nominated by the executive council. He got ratified by a single majority of the 10 present honourables with 9 yes and 1 void.

Speaking to the house, he said that although he cannot guarantee his 100% commitment, he would always strive to be available. He was questioned by the Speaker, Rt Hon Ayomide Oladoja, about how he tends to balance things since he is the speaker of his faculty legislative councils and a final-year student himself. He claimed he could balance them. He then read the oath, pledging that he will exercise his legislative power with impartiality and commit to serve the interest of the hall with sincerity.
