The 2025 Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall's Freshers week tagged “Welcome Home” has officially kicked off with the freshers' orientation programme. The event which was held at the Junior Common Room, Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall, commenced at exactly 4:30 p.m. with the opening prayer and the national, school, and hall anthems.
In his welcome address, Hall Chairman Sotomi Daniel emphasized the core values of Zik Hall i.e oneness, togetherness, and brotherhood. He briefly introduced the hall's various organizations and committees, encouraging freshers to actively participate in hall life. The legislative council was also introduced, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oladoja Ayomide.
The first speaker of the day was the General Duty Officer, who acted as a representative of the Campus Safety Service. He addressed essential safety measures, personal security, and the importance of registering with the appropriate campus units. Freshers were urged to remain vigilant and security-conscious at all times while complying with university regulations.
A panel session followed, featuring former Hall Chairman Oluwadamilare Fabiyi, popularly known as FADACA; former Zik Hall Football Association Chairman, Olowu Daniel; and the current Chief Judge of the hall, Oyedeji Tomilayo.
The panelists shared experiences and practical advice. Olowu Daniel spoke on balancing academics with extracurricular life and the need to find one's niche. Fadaca talked extensively about the legacy of Zikism and emphasized the significance of strength in togetherness and all-round excellence. He urged the new students to embrace brotherhood and pursue excellence. Chief Judge Oyedeji Tomilayo offered academic counsel, urging the new students to understand their learning and studying styles, seek guidance when needed, and stay intentional about their goals.
The session concluded with a lively Q&A segment and a general information session, allowing freshers to ask questions and gain clarity on their new environment.
