The Lanre Bello family and Junior Chamber International Nigeria, Obafemi Awolowo University, respectively, won the Inter-family and Inter-local Organisation categories of the Ibraheem Hameed Oratory Contest of the Junior Chamber International Nigeria (JCIN) University of Ibadan Chapter.
The event, which was the 6th edition of the Ibraheem Hameed Oratory Contest, was held on Saturday, the 6th of September, 2025, at the Large Lecture Theatre of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ibadan.With 76.25 points, the Lanre Bello Family was announced as the overall winner of the Inter-family contest, which involved an oratory contest and debate competition among the 8 families of JCI University of Ibadan.
Also, the Inter-Local Organisation Debate Competition was won by JCIN-OAU with 65.67 points, ahead of JCIN-UNILAG’s 62.5 points and JCIN-LAUTECH’s 59 points.The honouree of the event, Dr Ibraheem Hameed, encouraged the attendants and contestants about the importance of public speaking.
“Take public speaking seriously; it goes beyond another Barack Obama or Bill Clinton or Ibraheem Hameed. Be your own person. You find it useful when you attend interviews, or in a boardroomwhere policies are being formulated; you find it useful in marketing to be persuasive and as an entrepreneur,” he stated.
Junior Chamber International Nigeria University of Ibadan is an organisation that is committed to developing leaders for a changing world, and one of the ways to achieve this goal is through organising several events, of which the Ibraheem Hameed Oratory Contest is one.
