“We will win Jaw war” – Zik hall L and D president.

The University of Ibadan is set to hold its yearly literary and debating competition, Jaw war that brings students together from different halls and faculties to showcase their knowledge, eloquence, and persuasive skills. The highly anticipated war of jaws is imminent with students from all over the campus coming together to witness the intellectual showdown between halls and faculties.

Jaw War is not just a test of knowledge and debating skills; it is also a celebration of the art of persuasion. The participants are judged not just on the strength of their arguments but also on the ability to sway their audience. The competition is a reminder that effective communication is a crucial skill in every aspect of life.

 As different halls and faculties are profusely preparing to battle for intellectual supremacy, Zik hall is also gearing up to face off against Queens hall once again in the first stage of the competition. Zik hall has had a history of intense rivalry with Queens Hall in previous years.

In the last three editions, Zik hall has been tied with the Queens three times, losing three rounds and winning two. But this year promises to be different as members of the Zik Hall Literary and Debating have been observed practicing tirelessly for weeks, with their eyes set on nothing but victory.

 “We have done quite well with the preparation, we had a speech hearing on the 25th of March and I was impressed with the speeches. We have studied and analyzed previous debates, the focus had always tilted towards debating only but this year we’re changing the narrative and sharpening the literary side to maintain balance, and of course our eyes are on Jaw war” Zik hall Literary and Debating president, Mr Omotayo disclosed.  

Moreover, in the previous Jaw War competitions, Zik hall tends to always meet their waterloo at the quarter finals. While interviewing Mr. omotayo, he said “there are numbers of issues that could affect constituencies’ performance; Judging, sound system, one-sidedness of topics and the audienceship are issues to grapple with. Regardless, we should be hopeful. In fact, we will win Jaw War”.

As the competition approaches, the excitement is palpable, everyone is eager to witness the clash between Zik hall and Queens hall. The halls are buzzing with anticipation, and the participants are preparing for battle. The L and D President has promised that victory is within their reach, and it remains to be seen if they can deliver on their promise.

For zik Hall, Jaw War is more than just a competition; it is an opportunity to prove the real meaning of Zikism. The hall has been working hard to prepare its speakers and develop a winning strategy.
