Dafe Speaks on Zikite Support During Tech Elections
By Beatitude

It is a popular fact that Zik hall tends to display formidable cohesion in support of political canditates from Zik hall contesting for a post outside the hall. But what happens when two Zikites are in the race?
In a keenly contested election held in the Faculty of Technology, two zikites, Odafeoghene David popularly known as Dafe, and Wale vied for the position of President. At the end of the elections, however, Dafe emerged.
In an interview with Dafe by a ZHPO correspondent, he disclosed that the election was a very competitive one as Zikites were left wondering about who to support. According to him “most Zikites especially the elders find it difficult to choose who to give their support to, hence, the elders said they would neither support me nor my contestant, Wale. They preferred to remain neutral to circumvent division and disunion”
Dafe further disclosed that while the elders stuck to their word before and during the election, the major support he earned in Zik hall was from his friends and freshers in his floor who did not only vote for him but also helped to woo and gain other Techites’ support.
The election was fairly contested, with both candidates making their case to the voters. There were debates, online adverts, publicity and door-to-door campaigns as both candidates tried to convince the electorate to vote for them. Despite the fact that both candidates are well-known in the hall, Dafe emerged victorious, securing the highest number of votes.
When asked about how he felt running against another Zikite he unveiled that he didn’t see it as a problem since the position of faculty president had been his ambition ever since he became Vice-president in the faculty. He said most of his aspirations for the position of presidency in the faculty were birthed when he was a Vice-president under Irewole Olumeyan who is also a zikite.
In his words, “working with Irewole gave me an eagle view of the faculty’s needs, I realized that Techites do not usually participate in departmental and faculty events especially social ones, Tech-guys are the finest in school, but they do not know any other thing than being fine, techites are too obsessed with academic activities, so I look forward to creating a bond of love among Techites through social events and other educative events to marry academics with social life”.
Speaking after his victory, Dafe expressed gratitude to his supporters and promised to fulfill his campaign promises to the best of his ability.
