Are Ifeblack’s Promises Going to Remain Promises?
By Beatitude
Leadership is about challenging the status quo and visibility is an inevitable measure of leadership. The manifesto of Ifeoluwa Akinwusi Samuel, the incumbent Vice-Hall Chairman were not only promising but also suiting to Zikites’ desires.
The incumbent Vice-Hall Chairman spilled promises that are too tangible to be negligible. Though, it’s easier said than done, the question is, have all these promises been executed? If no, are they still feasible or are there still plans to execute them? Should Zikites remain expectant or “otilo”?
Ifeoluwa Akinwusi popularly known as Ifeblack in his manifesto promised to add value to Zikites especially tech related ones like UI UX design, web development, and other tech skills. He said “I have personal goal to make sure that at least 100 Zikites have varieties of digital skills that can help them make money and sustain themselves after school”. However, upon interviewing a number of Zikites who insisted to remain anonymous they gave similar response that this promise is still an unripe fruit whose consummation period remains in hopes.

Nevertheless, the Vice-Hall Chairman while being interviewed by a ZHPO correspondent on the 4th of December, aired his plans to fulfill this promise as time goes on. He said he is still working on bringing experts who have produced results and procured relatable achievements to engage Zikites in tech skills.
Furthermore, Ifeblack promised to revive the supporters’ club to ensure victory of Zikites at various competitive outings. He further said that he has developed a sustainable system for its core members as all Zikites are automatically part of the club to preach ZIKISM as oneness, togetherness and brotherhood. In an interview with random Zikites, many of them showered Ifeblack with encomiums for fulfilling this promise by reviving the supports’ club, recruiting more Zikites into the club, repairing spoilt/damaged drums, and other instruments for gyration, bonfire, etc. Also, a B-blockite, Timmy, commended the office of the Vice-Hall Chairman for illuminating and rejuvenating the zik hall reading room as promised.
Has Ifeblack ever embarked on any other project apart from his manifesto plans? Yes, it’s of no doubt that many a Zikite did not only applaud the vice hall chair for reviving the supporters’ club but also commend him for engaging in extraneous activities outside his manifesto plans like the Zik hall help desk. Ifeblack introduced the platform for Zikites to make enquiries, suggestions and lodge complaints about the condition of their rooms, facilities on their floors, blocks and the hall in general

In addition, the vice hall chair together with some executives commenced “operation Beautify zik hall”, working to ensure that all flower pots are filled with beautiful flowers and have an aesthetic ‘ZIK IS HOME’ inscription created with flowers.

Moreover, the vice hall chair disclosed some other plans to make lines for spreading clothes in the hall, he said “work has started on putting the lines and we are about 65% done, this is to ensure that there are quality ropes for Zikites to spread clothes”

Lastly, Ifeblack also promised zik hall tradition festival which would contain gyration, karaoke, common pot, games, bonfire, inter-floor aro contest during the hall week. He said he will achieve this by working with the Minister for Socials. He further stated that this will strengthen the bond amongst Zikites and show the real meaning behind Zikism.
While the Vice-Hall Chairman is lauded for his efforts, Zikites can only keep their fingers crossed for yet-to-be fulfilled promises.
